Problem
Ranges needed at Galveston Causeway for
westbound tows crossing from Pelican Cut toward the bridge.
Buoys are difficult to keep on station in this area.
Recommendation
Build ranges on this reach. The bridge
possibly could provide the structure for the rear range.
Status
Coast Guard reports that ranges are not
effective for this distance. LCDR asked for other suggestions.
USCG has ordered larger buoys to increase radar reflectivity
as of 8/13/01.
